Westhampton Beach Fire District

Governance, Oversight, and Public Accountability

About the Westhampton Beach Fire District

The Westhampton Beach Fire District is a political subdivision of the State of New York. Established in 2003 following a split from the Village of Westhampton Beach, the District is governed by an elected Board of Fire Commissioners and managed with the support of dedicated district officials.

The Board of Fire Commissioners has the authority to levy taxes on property owners within the District to fund fire protection services, capital improvements, and member support programs such as LOSAP. They oversee the District’s assets—including buildings and apparatus—develop the annual operating budget, and implement policies and procedures governing the Westhampton Beach Fire Department. Commissioners also appoint and may remove firematic chiefs and officers when necessary.

District business is conducted during regular public meetings, held on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 5:00 p.m.
